Rama was born in 1983, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. At the age of 8, she learned how to make her first cup of chai. As a young girl, she took every opportunity to cook with her mom, making everything from homemade samosas to spring rolls. Cooking became her family's love language.
At 18, she went to The Culinary Institute of America, worked with Jean George and Thomas Keller and then quickly after graduation got married. At 23, she decided to start her private chef/cooking class business, WannaBee Chef and started a family. As a way to create memories and preserve her own family traditions/culture, family dinners with her husband and three kids became non-negotiable in the technology addicted world of today. She recently competed on Food Network’s, CHOPPED. (season 47, ep. 13).
She loves making Indian (reminds her of childhood), Italian (because her kids love it) and American (she loves adding an Indian twist to classics) food.

I added a sprinkle of the Mango Sutra onto a yogurt parfait, and it really elevated my breakfast! With a touch of sweetness from the caramel-like jaggery and a hint of cardamom, this was a beautiful way to add a special flair to a simple meal 🥭
